Eastlander Child Care Organization Uganda (ECCOU) is a Christian-based organization
established in 2015 and initially registered as a Community-Based Organization (CBO)
in Kirika sub-county and Kibuku district, Uganda. Later, it was registered as a non-
government organization by Mr. Waira Samuel Joel and four other individuals who
recognized the importance of tackling the challenges faced by orphans and disadvantaged
children, and people living with aids in the community. With commitment, devotion,
and determination, ECCOU is dedicated to assisting a few orphans and disadvantaged
children in the villages of Kibuku and the broader region of Uganda. The organization’s
primary purpose is to mobilize and empower the community to play a pivotal role in
providing free formal and vocational education to orphans, destitute children, and
other children in need of care and protection, promoting self-sustenance and
eradicating poverty.

The organization aims to complement government efforts in aiding orphans and needy
children. ECCOU collaborates closely with the Kibuku district communities and seeks
partnerships with other Non-Government Organizations (NGO) to address these
issues. ECCOU supports orphans by providing primary education, secondary education,
and vocational education by:

  • Ensuring access to quality education by covering tuition fees
  • Providing balanced diets to enhance resistance to diseases.
  • Offering shelter and medical care
  • Imparting moral values and spiritual support
